PUBG’s 15th title update brings Sanhok to live servers, as well as a new weapon

The map goes live on June 22.

The newest update for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is on the way, and it brings the game’s latest map along with it.

The new map, Sanhok, is ready to go after four rounds of testing. The new location is themed like an east Asian island, complete with caves, ruins, a sprawling hotel and resort, and small villages. The map is half the size of PUBG’s first two maps, Erangel and Miramar, offering a more action-packed close quarters experience.

When Sanhok goes live on June 22, it will also come with a brand new weapon. The QBZ95 is a Sanhok-exclusive, replacing the SCAR-L in the map’s loot pool. The new gun will use 5.56 rounds, and it will spawn about 1.4 times as often as the SCAR-L used to spawn in the new locale.

With three maps now in the game, there are two separate playlists to choose from. The first playlist, Battle Royale, features Erangel and Miramar. The second playlist, called Mini Royale, will feature only Sanhok for now.

The update also includes a number of changes to the UI including an update to the friends list, leaderboard and replay UI improvements, enhancements to pop-ups in the lobby and game sessions, and improvements to the in-game minimap. The minimap will now dynamically zoom in or out depending on your character’s movement speed, allowing you to better see what’s around you. The blue zone indicator above the map has also received improvements.

In an effort to spread the word about next month’s PUBG Global Invitational, key art has been added around the map, as well as the default parachute skin on Erangel and Miramar. PGI 2018 takes place from July 25 to 29 in Berlin, Germany.

PUBG’s update 15 should be made available on PC some time within the next few days, just in time for the launch of Sanhok on Friday, June 22.
