Fortnite is getting a new double barrel shotgun this week

Another tool of the trade is coming.

A new shotgun is coming soon to Fortnite, and it could be added to the game as early as tomorrow.

The news about the new weapon popped up for those who booted up the game today, teasing an arrival “soon.” The Double Barrel Shotgun will be of Epic and Legendary variety.

All that the message says otherwise is that the weapon can be fired twice in rapid succession, as you would expect from a double barrel shotgun. It holds two shells that can be fired one after the other.

This weapon might alleviate some growing concerns from players who have seen a shift into a submachine gun meta in the past few weeks. Shotguns have received multiple nerfs and changes, so maybe this one will level the playing field a little bit.

This will be the second Epic and Legendary shotgun added to the game since the Heavy Shotgun was introduced a few months ago. It will be fun to test out both to see which one reigns supreme on the battlefield.

Fortnite’s 5.2 update is scheduled to release tomorrow at 3am CT, so the double barrel shotgun will likely be a part of the new update once the servers go live shortly after.
