2 cards from The Witchwood that interact with Beasts have been revealed

One is a Beast and the other brings a Beast back.

Two more cards from the upcoming Hearthstone expansion, The Witchwood, were revealed earlier today, and they have some synergy—even though one is a Druid spell and the other is a neutral minion.

Witching Hour is a three-mana Druid spell that summons a friendly Beast that died earlier in the game. Beast Druid hasn’t really worked over the years in Hearthstone, mainly because there aren’t enough good cards to support it. It seems like The Witchwood is giving players another opportunity to make the deck work. Witching Hour alone won’t make the deck type popular, but Witchwood Grizzly will also help.

Witchwood Grizzly is a five-mana minion with a 3/12 body and Taunt. While these stats might sound insane, this card’s downside is that its Battlecry causes the Beast to lose one health for each card in your opponent’s hand.

Witchwood Grizzly can work well against aggressive decks, as these players typically won’t have many cards in their hand. This means when you play Witchwood Grizzly, it’ll have most of its health, as well as Taunt to stall your opponent. This card won’t be too good against control decks, however, as your opponent will usually have a lot of cards in their hand.

If you included both Witching Hour and Witchwood Grizzly in a Druid deck, you could use the spell to bring back the Grizzly at full health. These cards together could hint at more support coming for a control or mid-range style Druid deck that features Beasts, but we’ll have to see what other cards are revealed from this expansion.

You can now preorder a package that includes 70 total card packs and a card back for $49.99 before The Witchwood gets released sometime in April.
